|
Sunday March 7
Brooklands U12 Girls vs. Wirral, loss Brooklands U12 Girls vs. Stockport/Heaton Mersey, Win 9-0
Although Brooklands U12 Girls had a rough start against the Wirral in their first game, the defense stayed strong with outstanding play from Lucy Frier and Emily Chandler, while Emily Atkinson made countless saves in goal. Learning from their first match, the girls came ready to play in their second game against Stockport/Heaton Mersey. Midfielders such as Georgina Owen and Lydia Hewitt controlled the ball in the center of the field, while low attackers Ellie Kempson and Lorna Johnstone were ready to receive the ball by the goal and fight for the loose ground balls. Atkinson played excellently in goal for a second time and the defense was even stronger than their first game, again led by Frier and Chandler. Through a stronger focus and a desire for the ball in the second game, the Brooklands U12's demonstrated their strong ability to be resilient and raise their level of play. Every single one of the 18 girls who played contributed this Sunday and showed their improvement over the last few months. |
